Letter of Recommendation for Melissa Rosales Haueter

Our son has always been a solid, hard working student. He found math to be a challenge, but was able to work through the assignments and consistently achieved A’s and B’s.

When he began 5^th grade, he started to struggle with the math concepts being taught.  The teacher moved him to a lower, remedial, math class and his confidence and his grades plummeted. By January he was getting C’s on his math grades as well C’s in effort. There were constant battles to work through his homework and studies.  Sean and we were frustrated.

In February 2004 we decided to engage a tutor and Melissa started to work with our son.  For the first 5 months, Melissa worked with him on a twice-weekly basis. He ended the 5^th grade with a B+ in math and an A for effort.  We continued to have Melissa work with him over the summer and into the new school year.

Melissa listens effectively to us as parents, to the issues and areas we see problems in. She also listens to our son and his concerns with the math concepts he is learning. She evaluates the problem areas and focuses the lesson so that he practices and develops an understanding of the math skill.  Melissa has a knack of getting Sean to pay attention during their lessons that we are mystified by.  Sean ends these lessons with better understanding of the math and a sense of confidence that is gratifying to us as parents.

The proof is in the grades.  We received Sean’s 2^nd quarter report card last week.  He has gotten straight A’s in math this year and continues to get outstanding scores for his effort.  Math is still not easy for Sean and he works hard every week; but with Melissa, he is mastering the concepts and has gained confidence in his ability.

This recommendation is in reference to Melissa Rosales Haueter and her tutoring proficiency.

My nine-year-old son, Andrew, was having trouble comprehending his math.  I was unable to help him understand the math without further confusing him.  I had enrolled him into another tutoring program named “Kumon.”  The program was designed to help the student understand his subject through repetition and speed.  After one year in the program, Andrew was still having trouble with his math. 

I learned of Melissa’s tutoring service through a friend and I immediately contacted her to schedule some individual tutoring for Andrew.  After only four months, attending tutoring sessions two days a week for one hour each day, Andrew has made a huge improvement in his math skills.  His grade for math improved by seventy five percent.  Melissa has provided Andrew with individual attention that helps him understand the math.  She is very patient and knowledgeable in the subject which she is tutoring Andrew. 

I only regret not having found Melissa sooner.  I am extremely pleased with the quality of her tutoring service.  The fact that Andrew now understands his math has given him greater confidence in school and his abilities to complete his math work.  I plan to contract Melissa to tutor Andrew for science in the near future.  The money spent for tutoring sessions has been a beneficial investment for my son’s education.

I highly recommend Melissa Rosales Haueter as a private tutor.
